Day 7 – Soaking in Seoul

The morning involved brekky at Queen’s Bakery and a return trip to the discount store in Myeondong to buy too many souvenirs. More obvious when I needed to withdraw more cash.

The Queen would approve: I got a squishy sweet potato bun and garlic bread (sweet here) that had a cheese layer in it
Clowning around

A tip, look for ATMs with your credit card providers logo or that say 365. I tried one at my local E-Mart convenience store but kept getting an error.

So I found Woori Bank with ATMs across from the discount store in Myeongdong that was only too happy to give me more money to spend.

Using them is straight forward, select your language and follow the lower screen prompts.

Then lunch at a busy McDonalds, cheese sticks were an new addition we don’t get back home in Australia.

Then I made my way to Siloam Sauna to soak away all the past 6 days of aches.

Quick guide to a Korean Sauna / Spa experience

Pay ₩11,000, enter the female or male area, remove shoes and put them in a locker. Take this locker key to the desk lady and she’ll give you two small towels and a comfortable spa uniform (to wear after you’ve finished soaking in the underground baths and saunas).

Then the difficult (or easy part depending on how inhibited you are) remove all your clothes and put them in your assigned locker with bags and other belongings. Wear your locker key around your wrist for safe keeping.

Head to the lower (you can take one towel to wrap your head while soaking) floor baths and scrub yourself thoroughly. At the small shower stations before entering the various temperature and massage baths.

When you’re done hanging out with the ajummas (older Korean women), proceed to scrub yourself again before going back up to explore the upper floors by either getting a beauty treatment, meal from the cafeteria or sleep on the heated floors.

After getting changed and returning the attire, I took a couple buses to Banpo Bridge to catch the light show, eat delicious food truck snacks, see the jewellery stalls and listen to live performances.

So many photo spots

Then it was time for me to return to my hotel, good night chingu!
