Day 1 – Brisbane to Seoul

Anneyeonghaseyo chingu! It’s been quite a while since I’ve done a travel blog – so bear with me while I dust off the keyboard (folio keyboard) and get back into practice.

I’m going to Korea!

The first day of travelling was a direct flight from Brisbane International to Incheon airport, with Korean Air. I chose to fly with Korean Air because they do a direct flight and I’m not about living that connection flight life.

The flight attendants were lovely, and I used the 9hrs wisely by watching the latest releases (Women in Black, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, A Star is Born, Bohemian Rhapsody and half of On The Basis of Sex – in case you were interested).

In flight meal Bibimbap – with Gochujang sauce in a tube!

After landing and clearing immigration, customs, collecting luggage, I got a prepaid unlimited SIM card and bought a travel card (with BT21’s Chimmy). I was tossing up between catching the train or bus to Seoul, but I decided on the bus as it would be more convenient (not lugging luggage through stations) without transfers and get me closer to my hotel.

After being dropped off and wandering around for a bit, I found my hotel and checked in (Google maps has been unhelpful – why does it always want me to catch a bus even just to cross the street?).

I got settled into my room, I was ready for a well earned rest after getting up 5am and having a sinus headache for the whole flight.

Decent sized bed

Good night – looking forward to getting to know the area tomorrow.
